Aion vs Immigrationist

Both tools fill in the gov.uk application for UK immigration firms, both leave a draft for a person to check, and neither submits on its own. They differ in which routes they cover, who enters the information, how long data is kept, and how you pay.

A note on fairness. We make Aion. Everything about Immigrationist below comes from its own website, immigrationist.io, as read on 15 October 2026. Where its site does not say something, we say so rather than guess. If anything is wrong, email contact@immigration.aionautomation.org and we will correct it.

Supported visa routes

This is the biggest practical difference today. Immigrationist currently covers Standard Visitor and Skilled Worker applications, and lists spouse and partner, naturalisation and indefinite leave to remain as in development.

Aion fills every UK immigration application form on gov.uk except asylum. That includes the family routes that make up much of a typical private client caseload: spouse and partner, settlement and naturalisation, as well as Skilled Worker and visitor applications.

If your firm mostly handles visitor and Skilled Worker work, both tools cover it. If you also do family and nationality work, check whether Immigrationist's new routes have launched when you read this.

Workflow

Aion

  1. Start an application, choose the route, say whether the applicant is in the UK, and add your firm's representative details.
  2. Upload the documents you already hold for the client.
  3. Your caseworker checks and edits the extracted summary. The original documents are deleted as soon as extraction succeeds.
  4. Aion fills the gov.uk application while your team watches if they want to.
  5. It stops at the Declaration page with a report of anything missing or uncertain.
  6. Your team reviews and submits.

Immigrationist

  1. Open a matter, choose the route and send the client a secure link.
  2. The client answers guided questions and uploads documents from their phone, with automatic prompts for anything missing or expired.
  3. Data is extracted from passports, bank statements, payslips and letters, with each field linked to its source page.
  4. A fee earner reviews, amends, adds representations and approves.
  5. Immigrationist fills in the application and assembles the bundle. The firm submits through its own account.

What each one automates

Both fill in the gov.uk application from the client's documents, so neither leaves your team re-typing answers.

Immigrationist also automates the front end: client intake through a guided link, reminders for missing documents, and bundle assembly. Its source links make it quick to check where each answer came from.

Aion starts from the documents your firm already holds. It fills the application in a live browser your team can watch, then hands back a report of anything missing or uncertain. Aion does not run client intake or build the evidence bundle.

Neither tool gives immigration advice or decides whether a client qualifies. Both leave review, judgement and submission with the firm.

Pricing model

Immigrationist charges per application: £60 + VAT (£72 including VAT) for one, with lower prices in packs of 5 (£57 each) and 10 (£54 each). There is no subscription and credits last 12 months. For firms with low or irregular volume, that is simple and predictable.

Aion sells monthly and annual plans that include a set number of applications. Per application, the plans work out at:

Prices are final, with no VAT added. Unused applications roll over while your subscription is active. Pay as you go is also available for one-off applications, at £99.99 each with no subscription, and those credits never expire. See current prices.

In short, comparing prices before VAT: Immigrationist costs less if your firm files fewer than about 9 applications a month, or files irregularly. If you use most of a plan's monthly allowance, Aion costs less per application, from £50.00 on Solo down to £33.33 on Team billed annually.

Data handling

On security the two are much alike. Both encrypt data in transit and at rest, neither uses client data to train AI models, and both offer a data processing agreement. Both keep their main storage in London and use some sub-processors in the United States: for Aion that is the AI provider, Anthropic, and Immigrationist lists Mindee. Neither publishes an ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification.

The difference is retention. Aion deletes original documents as soon as extraction succeeds and everything else about an application within 24 hours, so it holds no client file afterwards. Immigrationist keeps matter data for as long as your firm decides, and deletes or returns it on request and at the end of the contract. That suits firms that want the file kept in the tool.

See our security summary and Immigrationist's security page, and ask both vendors the questions in our AI safety guide before you upload a client's file.
