AI tools for UK immigration lawyers (2026)

The tools UK immigration solicitors and IAA-registered advisers are looking at in 2026, what each one actually does, and which kind of firm it suits.

Last updated: 15 October 2026

A note on who wrote this. Aion is on this list, and we make it. We have described every other tool only from its own website and published sources, linked below, as read on 15 October 2026. If anything here is wrong or out of date, email contact@immigration.aionautomation.org and we will correct it.

Four kinds of tool

"AI for immigration" covers very different products. It helps to know which job you are trying to speed up:

Most firms will end up with one tool from more than one group. A form filler does not replace your case management system, and a research tool will not fill a gov.uk application.

Aion

What it does: Aion fills UK immigration applications on gov.uk from the client's own documents. Your team uploads passports, certificates, payslips and questionnaires. Aion extracts the details into a summary your caseworker checks and edits, then fills the live gov.uk application in a browser your team can watch. It stops at the Declaration page and hands back a report of anything missing or uncertain. It never submits.

Routes: every UK immigration application form on gov.uk except asylum, including spouse and partner, settlement, naturalisation and Skilled Worker.

Data: original documents are deleted as soon as extraction succeeds, and everything else about an application within 24 hours. Documents are stored and processed in AWS London. See the security summary.

Pricing: Solo and Team plans, monthly or annual, from £33.33 per completed application on the Team plan billed annually. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial including 5 applications. Pay as you go is £99.99 per application with no subscription. Current prices.

Suits: firms filing a steady volume of gov.uk applications across several routes, who want the form itself filled rather than a draft to re-key.

Immigrationist

What it does: document automation for UK-regulated immigration practitioners. The firm opens a matter and sends the client a secure link. The client answers guided questions in plain English and uploads documents from their phone, with prompts for anything missing or expired. Immigrationist extracts the data, links each field back to its source page, and fills in the gov.uk application as a draft. A fee earner must review and approve it, a step its website says cannot be skipped, and the firm submits through its own account. Its site says "nothing reaches the Home Office without your sign-off".

Routes: Standard Visitor (including business visitors) and Skilled Worker. Spouse and partner, naturalisation and indefinite leave to remain are listed as in development.

Pricing: £60 + VAT per application, or packs of 5 for £285 and 10 for £540. No subscription or minimum term, credits last 12 months, and the first 3 applications are free after a 30-minute demo.

Suits: firms whose work is mainly visitor and Skilled Worker applications, who want client-facing intake and prefer paying per application. See our side-by-side comparison.

AORA

What it does: UK immigration software from AORA Group Limited in London. It works in three stages: a client questionnaire, an assessment stage that generates reasoning against the rules, and completion of the online application. Its website says its automation "can complete the official online applications", pre-populating UKVI forms such as Entry Clearance, Further Leave to Remain and Naturalisation up to the payment step, with fields marked where information is missing or needs checking. It also checks naturalisation criteria including absences, and offers compliance tools for sponsors.

Pricing: not published on its website, which asks you to book a demo. Its G-Cloud 14 listing on the government Digital Marketplace gives £2.90 to £75 per transaction.

Suits: practices and in-house teams focused on Skilled Worker sponsorship and naturalisation, especially those who want an eligibility assessment built into the workflow.

LawFairy

What it does: LawFairy describes itself as an SRA-authorised, technology-only law firm. It uses a deterministic rules engine, FairyLogic, rather than a generative model for its legal outputs. It produces eligibility reports, evidence checklists and reasoning for Skilled Worker, settlement and citizenship, and offers an occupation code (SOC) search.

Form filling: we found no mention of filling gov.uk forms.

Pricing: £149 per eligibility report for individuals. For advisers and firms, an Individual Plan at £249 a month + VAT or a Team Plan at £399 per seat a month + VAT, with assessments at £99 + VAT each.

Suits: checking eligibility and evidence before you take on or prepare a case, particularly where you want reasoning you can trace rule by rule.

Clio (Clio Manage, Clio Duo, Clio Work)

What it does: Clio Manage is practice management software used by firms of all practice areas. Clio Duo is an AI assistant inside it for summaries, document analysis and tasks. Clio Work is Clio's AI platform for legal work: analysing documents, research and drafting. It opened to all solo, small and mid-sized firms in April 2026.

Immigration: Clio is not immigration-specific and does not fill gov.uk applications. Clio's UK site describes Clio Work as covering procedural and practice rules across England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. We found nothing immigration-specific.

Pricing: per user. Clio's UK site quotes Clio Manage from £69 per user a month billed annually, or £79 billed monthly. Clio Work prices are not published.

Suits: firms that want AI inside the system they already use to run matters, across practice areas.

LEAP

What it does: UK practice management software with pre-configured immigration matter types: Appeal, Asylum, Entry Clearance, Leave to Remain, Nationality and Settlement. Matter details populate its library of more than 6,000 legal forms and precedents. It includes a legal aid app with LAA integration, bundling and a client portal. Its AI features (Matter AI, Prompts and AI time tracking) are general rather than immigration-specific.

Form filling: LEAP does not fill gov.uk applications. Its immigration page also notes that it "does not have direct access to the Immigration Portal for tracking visa applications".

Pricing: a single monthly subscription per user, with prices shared on request and a possible one-time setup fee.

Suits: firms that want full case management with immigration matter types built in, including legal aid practices.

Lexis+ AI (now Lexis+ with Protégé)

What it does: conversational legal research with citations, summarising, drafting and analysis of uploaded documents, built on LexisNexis content such as Halsbury's Laws, the All England Law Reports and Practical Guidance. Lexis+ AI is now known as Lexis+ with Protégé. It does not fill gov.uk applications.

Immigration: the product page does not mention immigration. LexisNexis publishes Macdonald's Immigration Law and Practice and Butterworths Immigration Law Service on Lexis+. If immigration research is the main use, ask LexisNexis whether Protégé answers from them on your subscription.

Pricing: by quote.

Suits: research and drafting work such as representations, appeals and judicial review, rather than form preparation.

What to ask any vendor

The SRA's warning notice on the misuse of AI (August 2026) is clear that solicitors stay responsible for work done with AI, and that client information should only go into systems with proper contractual, technical and organisational safeguards. Before you upload a client's file anywhere, ask:

  1. Is the vendor our processor under a written data processing agreement?
  2. Where are documents stored and processed, and which sub-processors see them?
  3. How quickly are originals and extracted data deleted?
  4. Is client data used to train any model?
  5. Does a person at our firm review everything before it is filled or submitted?
  6. Can the tool ever submit an application on its own?

We go through these in more detail in Is it safe to use AI for UK visa applications?

See how Aion fills a real gov.uk application. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial including 5 applications, from £33.33 per application after that.
